About this calculator
A target GPA calculator works backwards from your current cumulative GPA, completed credits, desired GPA and future credits. It tells you the average grade-point average you would need across those future credits.
How to use it
- Enter your current cumulative GPA and completed credits.
- Enter the cumulative GPA you want to reach.
- Add the number of future credits you expect to complete and read the GPA you need.
Target GPA formula
Required future GPA = [target GPA × (completed + future credits) − current GPA × completed credits] ÷ future credits
If the answer is above 4.00 on a standard 4.0 scale, the target cannot be reached within the number of future credits entered. Try increasing the future credits to see whether the target becomes achievable.
Example
If you have a 3.10 GPA after 60 credits and want a 3.30 GPA after another 30 credits, the calculator works out the average GPA you need across those next 30 credits.
This calculator assumes your school uses a standard 4.0 GPA scale and that the current GPA and credit totals you enter are accurate. Institutional rules may differ.
